33 deep red human hair dreadlocks, between 28.5 - 33 inches in length. Professionally colored with Pravana 6.66 at the root & Pravana ChromaSilk Vivid Red for the length.
When I decided I wanted to have dreadlocks, my mom made me wait for 1 year to make sure that was truly the commitment I wanted to make.
After that waiting period, I still had the desire to lock my hair. And so, with love and care and exceptional skill, my mom sat down with me and we spent 36 hours with her attached to my head (with breaks, of course) watching movies and talking as she turned my long, straight hair into beautiful, round, symmetrical dreadlocks.
I grew my hair out for 7 years. I honored my dreadlocks though that time with focused care and maintenance. I pulled in loose hair to make strong locks. Each time I thoroughly washed my hair, I ritualistically palm-rolled the dreads from root to tip, making them round and smooth.
Throughout their time on my head, I infused my dreadlocks with Reiki energy and used pure essential oils along their length. My mom lovingly took the time to dye them each month with the brilliant red professional quality color that makes them glow.
I have lived my life with much learning and growth, love and support, care and authenticity. All of these qualities make up the energy that my hair existed in as it grew.
